CHARCHOAL CHRONICLES
A series of charcoal drawings documenting connections between Bruges and London — two cities that have long been linked by trade, exchange and personal history.
In search for what binds these two places together, I learned about the Hanseatic League, a medieval trading alliance that collected goods from across the region and facilitated commerce between them. Among the many goods that passed through these routes (timber, wool, textiles,...) it was the cod that stood out, and became the first subject of this series of documentation.
